Yuvajana Sakhyam

We have a large Yuvajana Sakhyam group with an overall emphasis to Worship, Study, Witness and Serve. The Yuvajana Sakhyam is actively involved in all Parish programmes. Youth meetings are conducted every Sunday, immediately after the Holy Communion Service. Cottage prayer meetings are conducted every 1st and 3rd Saturdays at 5:45 pm in the Church premises. Every 2nd and 4th Sunday evening, at 4:30 pm, the youth members visit church members’ houses. Outdoor games are scheduled every 1st and 3rd Sunday.
Based on the various activities and programmes conducted during the year 2008-2009, Our Yuvajana Sakhyam is selected as 2nd BEST SAKHA in the diocesan level, by Chennai-Bangalore Diocese.
Our youth members visited Opportunity School on 28th June 2008, and helped clean the premises besides making a donation towards the school activities.
A breakfast stall was arranged in church on 20th July 2008, to generate funds for the Education Aid programme.
A CD titled 'My Lord and my God', describing the history of the Mar Thoma Church was screened in the Old Church building, after worship service, on 27th July 2008, for the benefit of the youth and others, to make them aware of the history and traditions of our Church.
The Yuvajana Sakhyam members actively participated in programmes like Onam celebrations on 21st September 2008, and Parish day celebrations on 15th March 2009.
The members took initiative to decorate the church on Christmas Carol service on 13th December 2008, and participated in the Carol rounds from 14th - 20th December 2008. On Christmas Carol day, they also arranged for a pre-Christmas cake sale.
The Yuvajana Sakhyam maintains a separate fund to help the less privileged students. During the year, assistance was given to 8 deserving students.
Our Yuvajana Sakhyam also actively participated in all the programmes of the Bangalore Centre and Diocese level youth activities. Our youth members were well represented at the Centre Work camp at Devanahalli from 12th - 13th of July 2008, and the Centre Camp at The Mar Thoma Centre, Beerasandra from 28th - 31st August 2008.
The Bethel youth also participated and won many prizes in the Centre Sports meet held on 1st November 2008. They also won prizes at the Centre Kalamela at the Mar Thoma Youth Centre, Bangalore on 8th November 2008. Darshan, a joint theatre initiative of the Bangalore Centre Students' Ministry and Yuvajana Sakhyam was another major programme in which our youth members were actively involved.
Our representatives also participated in the Diocesan Youth Conference 2008, at Coimbatore from 4th - 7th June, 2008.
