Sanu Memorial Cancer Aid Fund

We will be organizing a Thanksgiving Programme and launch of Sanu Memorial Cancer Aid Fund which will be held on Sunday, 18th April 2010 at 9.30 AM after the English Service at the Bethel Mar Thoma Church, KR Puram. Please spread word amongst your friends about the Thanksgiving Programme and the launch of the Sanu Memorial Cancer Aid Fund.

Cancer affects people at all ages with the risk for most types increasing with age. More than 70% of all cancer deaths occurred in low- and middle-income countries. Cancer treatment is very expensive and a good number of patients cannot afford the treatment. The patient also goes through lot of suffering and pain during the period. One may also undergo multiple surgeries, amputations and radiation treatment. It may cause permanent changes or damage to the heart, lungs, nerves, kidneys, reproductive or other organs. During this period, the individual undergoes severe bouts of depression, loss of self confidence and willingness to even live.

One life that took a positive look towards this suffering and hardship was that of Sanu Abraham’s (11 Mar 1979 – 27 Apr 2009). He lived an inspiring life of real joy and commitment under the most adverse circumstances. A man of true faith and prayer; he never let anything, even the most painful moments of his life, come in the way of encouraging an youngster, helping a needy one or talking of the wonderful ways that the Almighty Lord led him. Only a true believer, one who was sure of his salvation could do that.

Sanu Abraham was very active in all areas of life and served as the Vice President of the Bangalore Centre Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam in 2008-09. He was an active member of the Choir and Youth group of the Bethel Mar Thoma Church, KR Puram for many years and served as the Secretary of the church youth group.

Through his life and of his 11 years of Cancer treatment, many youths and his acquaintances including senior friends got inspired and understood the complexities of Cancer treatment. A way through the desert, as Sanu called his life during this period, was his journey with his Creator and Lord. You can read his testimonial at :

This has now empowered the youths to stand up for the cause and care of Cancer patients. A Cancer Aid Fund is thus being launched and we urge all dearly beloved in Christ to experience the fellowship of sharing.

A Cancer Aid Fund to help cancer patients is being launched. Given that cancer treatment is very expensive, we plan to raise Rs.10,00,000/- towards this cause. We plan to support one cancer patient every year. We look forward to your prayers and generous participation in this noble venture.
